Total Solar Eclipse in Menorca: an Afternoon to Remember

As we sailed along Menorca's west coast, our captain accompanied the journey with explanations about the phenomenon we were about to witness.

We reached Pont d'en Gil, where the scene already made it clear that this was no ordinary afternoon: huge numbers of people had gathered on the cliffs to wait for the eclipse.

From there, we headed south towards Cap d'Artrutx Lighthouse. Little by little, the Moon began to cover the Sun, conversations faded into murmurs and all eyes turned towards the sky.

The light began to change, and the sea and sky took on colours that were difficult to describe. For a few moments, day turned into night.

From the boat, we watched the eclipse over the horizon, surrounded by the sea. And almost as quickly as the light had disappeared, it began to return.

After totality, one final image was still waiting for us: the Sun, still partially covered by the Moon, descending until it disappeared below the horizon. After this very special sunset, we headed back to Cala'n Bosch with the feeling that we had shared something truly extraordinary.

For us, too, it was an experience that will be difficult to forget. After 45 years of sailing these waters, Menorca still manages to surprise us. And being able to celebrate our anniversary by sharing a moment like this with our passengers made it even more special.
