Exploring the Jewels of Eastern Menorca: Coves Near Mahón

Today we dive into the east coast of Menorca, discovering coves near Mahón that captivate with their unique charm, crystal-clear waters and surrounding landscapes. Are you ready to explore these hidden gems?

Our favourite coves near Mahón:

  • Cala Mesquida, tranquillity among cliffs: this incredible cove, with fine white sand and 300 metres in length, is very popular in summer and has a lifeguard service during the high season. It offers limited parking space, but the reward for the effort is well worth it. This cove is famous for its beauty and its extremely crystal-clear waters.
  • Cala Es Murtar, a truly peaceful cove: it is a spot frequented by locals, very close to Mahón, heading north. In the traditional village of the same name live only a few hundred mostly elderly residents and some tourists in summer. So, if you are looking for tranquillity, this is your cove! It is only about 10 metres wide and 50 metres deep, and its clear, clean waters full of fish have made it a well-known place among diving enthusiasts.
  • Cala Presili or Capifort: located within the protected area of S’Albufera des Grau. You will also find the Favàritx lighthouse nearby. It is one of the most beautiful coves in Menorca, not just on the north coast. As in most of them, the water has astonishing transparency. So don’t hesitate to bring your snorkelling goggles to enjoy much more than simply sunbathing on its sand.
  • Cala Rafalet, a haven of serenity: next on our journey is Cala Rafalet, a haven of serenity and natural beauty. This small cove is characterised by shallow waters and fine sand, creating an idyllic setting to enjoy a relaxing day. The best part? Its accessibility, perfect for those who prefer to avoid long walks.
  • Cala Figuera, the C-shaped beach: we continue towards Cala Figuera, a C-shaped gem located near Mahón. This cove, with calm waters and white sand, is perfect for a fun family day out. It also offers services such as restaurants and sun umbrella rentals, providing comfort without losing its natural charm.
  • Cala Sant Esteve, an intimate refuge: we end our journey at Cala Sant Esteve, an intimate refuge that combines scenic beauty with the privacy many seek. Although access can be challenging, those who make the effort are rewarded with a practically untouched cove, where only the sound of the waves breaking on the shore interrupts the silence.

The coves near Mahón reveal the diversity and magic that define Menorca. Whether you are looking for relaxation or intimacy, adventure or family fun, each beach offers a unique experience. So, which one will you choose on your next visit to the jewel of eastern Menorca? Dive into these crystal-clear waters and discover the beauty waiting for you near Mahón!
